Specifically this Tuesday, but most of this can be transposed with any Tuesday during SOA season
* Sons of Anarchy...obvs
* Text exchanges with OL that mostly include exchanges of "Holy $h*t" or omg
* My mom calling at 10:17 to discuss SOA
* The fact I said holy crap before the first commercial break and 6 mins in
* Facebook messages from friends live chatting the show
* Having no clue what is going to happen this season but trying to figure it out anyway
* Following Twitter #SOAFX while I watch and seeing other people's reactions
* Tomorrow's lunch discussion
* Jax Teller
* We are only 3 episodes in and I already can't imagine my Tuesdays without this show

Two Things to Remember about Tomorrow
(Or today if you are reading this on Tuesday)
1. Sons of Anarchy returns!!!!
2. New Apple Inc. product announcements (iPhone)
I have gotten several people addicted to Sons of Anarchy, including OL. She is very excited about it's return, she even has plans for a special meal! For me my Tuesday night 'Reaper' crew will be back together and will be tuning in to watch the 90 min season 6 premiere. Kurt Sutter, the creator of the show, has always said that the show will go 7 seasons, which means this could be the second to last season. And that makes me kinda sad.
New Apple products out tomorrow! Rumors have been swirling for months about the new iPhone and it's features. One thing that is not a rumor is the new features of the iOS7 upgrade, which just looks lovely if you check out the Apple website. Another feature is a fingerprint scanner locking device and better camera, faster processor and all that jazz. My upgrade just happened to be this past Saturday, so if I like what I see, a new iPhone will be in my future!
Happy Tuesday!

In Case You Missed It
It was more awkward than Miley Cyrus twerking at the VMA's....
While enjoying my Saturday night prime time football game of Notre Dame at Michigan, it took a turn for the awkward when half time rolled around. Someone at ESPN thought it would be a good idea to bring Michigan native Marshall Mathers aka Eminem onto the broadcast.... the following is what occurred. Viewer discretion is advised...

TV Talk: Fall Shows
It's only Tuesday and I already feel so overwhelmed by all the new shows. I checked out a few new shows last night..
Two Broke Girls- funny stuff, even gpa was LOL-ing. I'll keep it on the DVR
Two and a Half Men- loved the John Stamos appearance and Dharma and Greg. That was about it, not and Ashton fan will not keep it on the DVR.
Playboy Club- wasn't completely what I expected I'll give it a few more episodes to see how it goes.
I don't know how much more new TV I can squeeze into my already full DVR. Sons of Anarchy has not disspointed in it's first few episodes. FX seems to be bringin' it. I was always a fan of Nip/Tuck before it got weird it's last couple seasons so I'm excited to see the folk's at Nip/Tuck bringing us American Horror Story in October.
Lot's of shows coming up, what are you watching?

Somebody Grab Toto
Tornado sirens screaming was not the way I wanted to be awaken from my nap. Yes I take naps sometimes, if you don't you totally should. So I hear the sirens kind of half ass going off, I look outside and sunshine, seriously not a drop of rain was received here at North of 10th, and we could have used it. The sirens went off like 3 more times, everything went north of us, all that drama for nothing.
Next order of business, the best of reality television guilty pleasure known as bachelor Pad has returned. This show is the biggest glob of backstabbing, man tears, bleached blonde, fakefest I have ever seen and I couldn't be more excited that it is back. These girls are ridiculous. My favorite part are the girls who have come back for yet another round, hoping that this time they will find love... again, on the same reality show, amazing. AND as if it couldn't get any better, Jake and Vienna sausage are back in the same house. I cannot wait to see how this all unfolds.
I think everyone has a list of websites that they check on a daily basis. I've grown quite fond of checking CNN.com and I ran across this article the other day http://www.cnn.com/2011/TECH/web/08/04/snail.mail.email/index.html in a nutshell, the article basically talks about how no one actually sits down and really writes a handwritten letter anymore. Most everything is in electronic font. Think about it too, how often do you even see your own handwriting anymore? I've become quite fond of post-it notes lately so I write here and there. But I thought it was such a cute idea, a group of volunteers take emails and turn them into snail mail letters, because really what is more fun than getting a real piece of mail, anything other than bills is much appreciated.
So I thought it would be fun to challenge you all to write a good old fashioned snail mail letter to someone. Write your mom or your best friend, send a letter of thanks to a soldier overseas or send your favorite teacher a letter of thanks. Buy some cute stationary and a pretty pen and write a letter!

This Weekend I...
This weekend I was lazy. My Friday night consisted of Chinese food, sweatpants and my television. I discovered we had a free weekend of Starz, hello movies.
Saturday consisted of much of the same thing.
Today I took NiBo to his guitar lessons. We grabbed a bite at Fat Sandwich (just google it, it's not in anyway healthy and is actually a heartattack waiting to happen but it's so good) Then we went to the mall, I'm still in search of a nice pair of running shoes and still can't decide. Then it was home for the Oscars.
I really wasn't that impressed with the Oscars. The funniest parts were the promo clips leading up to the actual show itself. There were a few dresses I like but nothing too glamourous that I saw. The rain/thunder/lightning had to hit right at the time they were announcing Best Picture. I missed it all and read it on Twitter that King's Speech one. I love Colin Firth and am glad he won, maybe I should go see the movie.
Then I still wasn't quite ready for bed (this stay up late crap has got to go, it won't do if I'm to become a morning person) but Jimmy Kimmel was on and it happen to be the segment with Tom Hanks. I wish Tom Hanks was in my family. He's a funny guy.
Tom Hanks fact: There is a rumor in my small town that Mr. Hanks has dined at our German restaurant. His brother teaches at the university in the big town over so it makes sense he could have been here. I tweeted him tonight as I was typing this, hopefully we can get to the bottom of this rumor... I'll keep you posted.
Tomorrow is the last day of February, with March comes the promise that Spring will soon be on it's way, one can only hope. I'm the lateshift person at work tomorrow too so I'll be a long day, blah.

If you have no opinion please just mark the "I read today's post" box so I know I had visitors today (since you don't leave comments and I know I have some Anonymous followers out there)
Today was a pretty lazy day. I took my brother to guitar lessons and then we went and saw Avatar in 3D (Sunday movies are kind of becoming our thing). This was my first 3D experience and it was pretty cool I'll admit, I don't know if it was worth the extra money you have to shell out but it was cool. I've seen Avatar a few times on DVD but I never saw it in the theatre. It was re-released in theatres Friday with extended scenes that were pretty cool.
After our movie we grabbed some pizza (I think it's NiBo's new favorite?) They have delicious pizza and empanadas (today I had the raspberry cheesecake, delish! I had a roasted chicken one at the sweetcorn festival, delish also!) We didn't want to eat our ginourmous New York style sourdough sausage pizza in the car so we stopped off at the lake forest preserve on our way home for a picnic style pizza fest. [side note rant: I am so incredibly sick of mosquito's for the year I hope for a frost soon and they all die, then I guess it can warm up for a bit longer. I have no idea where these suckers are coming from I have Off'd myself anytime I venture out in fear of the blood sucking buttheads. But my feet are covered still and they itch soooo bad! I basically bathe my feet in Calamine lotion... ok I'm done back to the story] Before I exited the vehicle I made sure to douse myself in Off. So we sat at a picnic table scarfed our pizza in the great outdoors (clearly how pizza is supposed to be consumed). Then after we stuffed our faces to the fullest we decided screw the outdoors back in the A/C'd car, but still wanted to enjoy nature so we drove around in comfort and bug free around the lake to check out the view.
I have been to this area several times and on two occasions after experiencing this particular wildlife I asked aloud the same question.... "Look, are those real deer?!" Why do I ask this. I don't think they put up deer statues in the middle of the woods where deer live. I feel immediately stupid after asking but technically it's a legit question. It's not that often you just see deer hanging out on the golf course. It could be decoration to create the atmosphere right?! Well NiBo (my brother) was feeling daring and wanted to see how close he could get, I was curious too. My only preface was for him to be careful I don't want to explain this to mom, which has become our joke when he's about to do something stupid. But he got pretty close about 5ft I'd say. Clearly these are tame-ish deer, and they were all girls so he didn't have big scary buck running around. As we drove off the guys golfing rode right up to it in the golf cart and had a hard time shooing them off so I don't think there was any danger. But it was still fun.

Don't forget Monday night on the Bachelor Pad the new Dancing with the Starts contestants will be announced.
and one more little diddy.. TrueBlood you have disappointed me this season with your drawn out story line and no big drama or storylines and now I have to wait two weeks to see how this lame seasons ends... shame on you.

Catching Up..
So I have finally started reading Eat, Pray, Love.. hence my absence of posting yesterday... But since you missed me.. Let's catch up.
- I'm not very far into it, I don't hate it but I'm not in love yet. So far I really like the style of writing. I was honestly expecting it to be a more formal writing style with almost a snippity I traveled the world and you didn't kind of narrative. But Elizabeth seems cute and not rubbing it your face that she went on this life changing journey across the world.-- well that's all I can really say about the book this far. But kudos to me for starting it earlier than the night before.
- 'Old Lady' wanted to have a conversation about last night's Bachelor Pad and I can't believe it but I totally forgot to watch it. That's what reading will do to ya.. it make you forget about your trashy drama filled reality tv.. stupid books.
- I went to the Drive-In with my brother last Thursday and got eaten alive by what I hope was a swarm of mosquitoes and not just one that repeatedly attacked me. I have literally not kidding at all 25 bites on one leg from mid-calf down. I wanted to chop my foot off it itched so bad. Today I'm better calamine lotion is amazing. I have had bouts of dizziness lately for just a minute or two, I googled west Nile and I think I'm safe, or I could just be in the 80% majority of people who never show symptoms.
- I miss my cubemate 'My Girl T' it just really isn't the same without her. I miss you TT come back soon PLEASE!! Don't stay longer either.
- Garden spiders amaze me. They are curious creatures that are HUGE first off. They only make their webs at night and ball them up and eat them before morning only to make another new one at night. They are all over, I'll grab a picture sometime for ya. I am officially scared to go into the back yard at night if I have to only to strategic locations, I learned the hard way these webs are huge.
- Good Movie/Bad Movie--My brother made me watch "The Watchmen" so I watched that last night too, I really like it. It's based on a graphic novel so it may not be everyones cup of tea... good movie. I had a Netflix movie the other day too "The Spirit" bad movie end of story. Don't watch.
- TrueBlood is almost done for the season, 3 episodes left. I am disappointed with this season so they better wow me with the last three, it's been kind of slow. Last season there was always something happening every episode, now I'm just waiting for them to get to the point. Makes me sad.
- This weather!! How amazing has it been. I have been sleeping with my windows open, something that I haven't been able to do in forever and it is amazing. It's been a glorious glimpse of the wonderful weather that Fall will bring VERY SOON!!! Get over it people, it's a coming and I can't wait.
- Makin plans Makin plans. I've been in the works with work peeps to take some weekend adventures. What's on the list you ask? Well hopefully a Chicago Ghost Tour, a moonlight corn maze, maybe a Chicago day trip, a Country/and or a Real dance/club bar night and a wine date. How fun!
- Car is fixed, but you knew that if you follow the blog
- I want some extra cash more truthfully I just want someone to give me the money so I can buy the camera I want and a new cell phone and that should tie me over with new toy happiness until Christmas rolls around. I'm thinking Bath and Body Works, I worked there once and didn't mind it, seasonal work is upon us folks. Three months away from Black Friday deals!
- We brought up the idea of a cruise in February/March. I haven't forgotten about it. I think its an awesome idea. I hope it will work out aka I will have the money to.
- Keeping with our bookclub read this month. Here is your assignment. I read an article about people yearning for the Eat,Pray, Love type of experience without the whole traveling to another country and spending boocoo bucks. So here is your thought for today. Our good ol USA has a ton of majestic landscapes and places to find yourself. Your challenge: What would be your Italy, India, and Indonesia right here in the US. So pick three places here domestically and what you would want to accomplish and find out about yourself in those three places. Check back tomorrow and I'll give you my three.

TV Talk: Bachelor Pad
Bachelor Pad Monday's on ABC
I actually don't know what to say about this show. It's a delicious guilty pleasure and there is just so much drama it's hard to turn the channel. I have no idea how they are able to find that many crazy women to be on one show. Whoever thought up this idea really should get a raise, it's the perfect blend of immature Real World he said she said and the hilarious notion that these people just want to find love meets Survivor.
Will they find love, will they win the money? I honestly don't care, I'm sure I will get a few favorites to win but I don't care I'll just sit back and watch the train wreck that is this season of Bachelor Pad.

Carrie & Aidan Forever in my Heart
Season 4 of Sex and the City has got to be the most amazing season ever. It's no secret that I am team Aidan, even still wishing Carrie would have cheated on Big in the 2nd movie (I know it's wrong, don't judge). He is very cute and a country boy at heart (what can I say.. I'm a sucker) and short haired Aidan is dead sexy.
I have the complete series in my pretty pink box set and I can watch every epidosde a million times, I still don't think there is a show that I can watch over and over and over again.
So Aidan, I'm sorry that Carrie didn't think you were good enough to have forever, you're still Mr. Right in my book, yes the first ring was hideous but you eventually figured it out. Carrie I'm noticing you are pretty whiny about everything Aidan tries to do, he took you to the country and you acted like a baby...not cool. You have a gorgeous man who loves you and was able to forgive you for the whole Big debacle..shame on you.
I <3 you Aidan.

Waiting Sucks! Bring It on!
Season 2 = Amazing
Season 3 = looks hella good.I am too excited for Season 3 of TrueBlood to begin this Sunday. Since 'FM' hasn't even finished watching season 1..gasp! I won't spoil anything.
But I have my thoughts on what's going down to follow up with how Season 2 ended. I loved having the DVDs for the first season and stayed up way too late watching them like 3/4am... I know. Then I had to wait week by week by week to watch the second season... it got GOOD! I was down to the last three episodes then the DVD for 2 came out and we bought and hurried up and watched them all.. gotta love DVD.
So now I'll have to agonizingly wait as the show increases exponentially in awesomeness. Bring on the werewolves and the hott vamps.

And She's back....
So I have no idea what has been going on, it's crazy how busy sneaks up on you like that. I think it was the holiday weekend that got me all busy-like. I haven't even caught up with TV shows or been on the computer more than to check my email quick.. crazy.
- The Bachelorette-- ok ok I know lame. I borderline hated myself for getting into the Bachelor but since I did, Ali was my favorite to win (not Vienna sausage, but Jake was a db so it all worked out [and ps for Jake and Vienna doing a dance together on the finale of DWTS..vomit enducing]), and I'm going to see how long I can keep up with this. I like her better in small doses apparently and now that the whole show is about her I have my doubts. Second, the more I watch the show I just can't believe that people really expect a reality tv show to pick your 25 potential husbands and let you narrow it down to 1, really?! I mean I'd love to have a husband as much as the next single gal.. but come on, is it possible with all the added drama and trying to keep ratings up as well?
- TrueBlood-- two words. Hot.Vampires. go ahead and judge. I got hooked on this show when my Netflix thought I might like it.. I did. Thank you Netflix. I don't even know what it is about this show that keeps me coming back. The boys aren't bad on the eyes and the crazy things that go on and I've gotten attached to the characters. And the show always ends with something crazy about to happen so you have to tune back in to see how it goes. Thank you HBO.
Some other shows that are new to the summer lineup that I'm going to check out include:
- The Good Guys (FOX)-- "This police action comedy from the mind of Burn Notice creator Matt Nix follows a young, by-the-book detective (Colin Hanks) who is teamed with a boozy veteran (Bradley Whitford) to solve the department's petty crimes — or Code 58s, as they're known. Reaper's Jenny Wade, Castle's Diana Maria Riva and Whitford's mustache also star." I love Colin Hanks so I'm excited about this one!
- Louie (FX)-- this looks funny from the previews I've seen. "Featuring a mix of sketches and stand-up comedy, this half-hour sitcom is based on the life of the brilliant standup comedian Louis C.K. as he balances life on the road with being a divorced father of two."
- Memphis Beat (TNT)-- "Produced by George Clooney's Smokehouse Productions, this cop drama stars Jason Lee as Dwight Hendricks, a Memphis police officer who lives with his mother. Dwight's intimate connection to the city sets him apart from other officers. Alfre Woodard also stars as Lt. Tanya Rice, Dwight's demanding boss."
I also want to try to get caught up on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Rescue Me. I have Rescue Me stored up on my Netflix for Wii to watch on a lazy too hot to go anywhere/rainy day day. So ya'll got anything else that I can get hooked on? I'm open for suggestions!
Also a little insight to my sad obssion with TV, I have all the premier dates on my calendar.. don't judge!
So with that said Summer is upon us. Primetime TV has taken its summer hiatus which makes me a little sad (not that I should be stuck inside watching television.. but let's face it, it's going to happen). Thankfully there are enough shows to keep my attention on the occasion that I may be spending my hours inside glued to the TV.

What Would You Do?
Two times this week I have got stuck on abc watching "What Would You Do?" and have ended up in tears both times. The generosity of people around us is just unbelievable.
The first episode that made me cry was the other night, the scenario was a boy with down syndrome (an actor) was bagging groceries at a supermarket and the girl in line (also and actor) was making mean comments that he was taking too long, why do they hire these people and other mean mean comments. The premise of the show is to see how ordinary people would react. Some people would just make faces in disagreement but wouldn't say anything. Some in the line would say that is rude. And a few would step up and express their opinions and stand up for the boy. One person who came to up to bat for the boy wasn't even in the line behind the woman who was acting he just happened to over-hear. He was motivated to step up because he has a little sister who also has down syndrome and he said he couldn't imagine someone talking to her like that, queue the tears. It really does just break my heart that people are so cruel to others because they are different, but it's amazing that people will stand up for others.
Tonight got me going with this scenario: given the new health care reform an elderly lady went to get her diabetes medicine that she can't live without. She is on the last of her social security for the month and her usual co-pay is $20. When she gets ready to pay the man tells her it will be $140. She starts crying (acting) that she can't afford that much. Amazingly several people offered to pay for for at least half and one woman offered to pay for the whole amount. I wouldn't have the money to help her but I hope that if I would have been in that situation I would have helped if I could.
This show is amazing. It really makes you think about how you would react in any of the given scenarios. It's so easy to say you would, but unless you are truely in that situation it's hard to say what you would or wouldn't do. It's a great discussion show and if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.

TV Talk: True Blood

I can't say how I really got started watching True Blood, maybe it was a Netflix recomendation... but I got one disk (episodes 1 & 2} and I was hooked. I couldn't wait long enough to watch them one disc at a time so I found season 1 on sale for like $25 and snagged it up. I literally sat and watched it for like 2 nights until 3am..that good. Then I was in a pickle because I had already missed season 2 on HBO, it wasn't on dvd until May and the new season starts in June.
For a birthday present I got HBO and luckily they have been doing a season 2 repeat. It's only to episode 3/12 and I am dying to know what happens. This is why I don't like to get into them at this juncture, waiting does indeed suck. So as I keep trying to figure out what is going on, and trying not to ask others that I know have seen the second season already. It keeps you on your toes for sure. I can't wait for season 3 to start!

Todays review: Dancing with the stars
Pamela Anderson = wtf?! You aren't that hot anymore you seem drunk.. you can go
Aiden Turner = good looks will only get you so far.. you can stay for now
Buzz Aldrin = sorry nice try but I think you are the first to go, we don't have the patience for ya too long. But you're giving it your best
Chad Ochocinco = can't be good at everything.. this will humble you. I give you a few more episodes, we will keep you around to see your chemistry with Cheryl [old lady thinks you two are dancing more than what we see]
Erin Andrews = nothing standing out right now.. you may stay
Evan Lysacek = again you have a skating background so you have a better chance... you could be the sleeper. You may stay
Jake Pavelka = you're a douche
Kate Gosselin = I want to throw you against a wall... [insert tear] "Thank you for not quitting, a lot of people have quite on me in my life." Stop being so whiney, you seem like a stubburn woman. Bless Tony for putting up with you-- I'd rather see you go home than Buzz.
Nicole Scherzinger = I hate to cheer for people who have a strong dance background already, but you seem nice.. you may also stay
Niecy Nash = you have fun and prove bigger girls can party too... you can stay
Shannen Doherty = you look like you are having fun.. you may stay
Just my opinion :)

Have you made your picks?
We are in the midst of Award season if you were unaware. Red carpets, beautiful or sometimes hideous gowns, and Joan Rivers dolling out fashion advice. I love to park it on E! hours before the show begins to checkout the red carpet arrivals and critique their fashion like I think I have any myself (music starts playing) ok I'm rambling so without further adieu...
Here are my Oscar predictions for the major categories
Leading Actor- Colin Firth "A Single Man"
Leading Actress- Sandra Bullock "The Blind Side"
Supporting Actor- Matt Damon "Invictus"
Supporting Actress- Maggie Gyllenhaal "Crazy Heart"
Animated Feature- Up
Best Picture- Avatar
I went with Avatar for Best Picture not only because of the hype but also because I did actually see it and I didn't love it per say, but it was a good movie, amazing special/visual effects and completely unlike anything I have seen lately with movies. I used to go to the movies a lot but in recent times I haven't been as much so I don't have a whole lot to judge on. But it's an original idea and with all the sequels and remakes it was refreshing to see something different.
Best Picture winners can sometimes be surprising or maybe even an upset. Let's take a quick look back at the winners from the past:
2008 - “Slumdog Millionaire”
2007 - “No Country for Old Men”
2006 - “The Departed”
2005 - “Crash”
2004 - “Million Dollar Baby”
2003 - “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King”
2002 - “Chicago”
2001 - “A Beautiful Mind
2000 - “Gladiator”
1998 - “Shakespeare in Love”
1997 - “Titanic”
1994 - “Forrest Gump”
1943 - “Casablanca”
1939 - “Gone with the Wind”
It's hard to imagine that movies about hobbit folk can be compared to some of the great classics like Gone with the Wind and Casablanca... those movies are timeless. It's hard to imagine one day people will look back on Lord of the Rings and consider it a cinematic classic. Well good luck to all those nominated and I can't wait to tune in Sunday! and sidenote If anyone ever has a Oscar party I'd love to come, I've always wanted to go to one!
