About North of 10th

Welcome to North of 10th: Southwestern tales from a small town Midwestern girl!

North of 10th was started in March of 2010, because well... all the cool kids were doing the blog thing. Several years later it has morphed into something I would have never thought possible.

The blog has become an outlet for writing, which is something I've come to love, and kinda wish I would have discovered earlier and maybe made a career change. It's also been a creative outlet for me and has kept my vocabulary and sentence structure skills up to date since leaving college. And it's just something fun for family and strangers to keep up with and follow.

Meet the Arizona crew:

That's me, Heather. You may see me referred to as 'Easy Rider' on my friends' blogs. I'm 29, and this is my blog... obviously. I've worked for a big insurance company for 8 years and in March of 2014 I took a new position, packed up my small town life in Illinois and headed west to Arizona. Stay tuned as this new adventure unfolds!

This is Oliver, he's almost two, he's also a cat... in case you hadn't noticed, don't worry he forgets sometimes too. He is very energetic and runs around like a crazy person sometimes, but as he's getting older he is becoming very cuddly and even more adorable. Oliver enjoys running from one end of the house to the other and chasing/eating moths.

Meet Audrey! She is the newest addition to the family. She was adopted from the Humane Society on May 4th, 2014 (which was Audrey Hepburn's birthday, her namesake). Audrey had been at the shelter since March 17th, which also happened to be my first day of my new job! She is a very sweet girl! Stay tuned for more Audrey and Oliver stories! ;)

The Illinois Crew:

This is A.Drama, she is the middle sibling, so you can imagine the 'drama' that comes with being the middle child. She is a cake decorator and bakery manager at the local grocery store back in small town. She spends most of her free time with her boyfriend Marvin (because he's kind of like Marvin the Martian and kind of lived under a rock in his youth)

This is dad. He works for the same company I do but for much much longer. He's looking forward to retiring soon. He served in the Navy for twenty-some years. He's the reason we get to see some pretty neat military things. He enjoys watching Nascar on the weekends and hanging out in his man cave watching history shows and movies.

This is mom! Mom has retired and now takes care of her adorable puppy Sophie and tends to the three cats at their home, Max, Scooby and Alex. She also helps wrangle the old folks (her mom and dad) pictured below and keeps them in line. Mom enjoys Duck Dynasty and playing candy crush in her spare time.

This is Gpa, holding a baby Oliver. Gpa has retired from working for the railroad for many years. He now enjoys working in his woodworking shop, watching the history channel, and in general kind of getting on Gma's nerves some days.

This is Gma. Gma is also retired from a slew of jobs over the years. She currently enjoys baking cookies, as evident by the giant chocolate chip bag she's seen holding, and making delicious treats and yummy dinners. She loves Sudoku and Thursday coffee with her girlfriends.

The Aloha Crew:

NiBo is the youngest sibling, he recently joined the Army and is currently stationed in Hawaii! We are all very proud of him and can't wait to hear about his adventures with the US Army!
