Who Has Two Thumbs and Spent Friday Night at Wal-Mart?

This girl!

Oh Wal-mart.... no more really needs to be said. Surprisingly there weren't too many people of wal-mart out and about on a Friday night, I'm sure they were at the bar or trying to decide which pair of plaid pajama bottoms were the "going out" kind.

No matter what store I'm in, I kinda have a method. My sister and I like to call it a perimeter check. Target is the best example of this but it works for Wal-mart too, you work the outside aisles first then circle back to the middle depending on where you want to spend your time, just trust me it works.

The main mission of our trip was cat food and mom had some things to pick up. I didn't have anything else planned so why not. Surprising that this mission actually had an objective because sometimes, hold your gasps, they go just for fun?!?! I promise you my gma can attract the crazies too, people will start to tell her their whole life story, she just has that kind of face I guess.

With nothing planned I managed to accomplish a few things. I finished up my co-workers Christmas gifts (please don't expect anything fancy, it's the thought that counts) and since I'm doing so well kicking the nail biting habit and have awesome long ladylike nails now and they've been bare since I removed my gel polish I had (I literally spent like 3 hours trying to carefully take it off myself, which I did manage to do with not too much damage to my nails. But it really does last for weeks) I thought some new polish was in order. I'm kind of a perfectionist and can't really do the whole left hand painting the right thing and it drives me nuts for it to look like the blind man down the street did it, so I thought I'd give the ole Sally Hansen polish sheet thingys a try.

They work pretty good, I think I did an ok application job. Although I don't think it will last too long for me. I didn't get the edges down good enough I guess and they are already starting to peel a bit, so it won't be long before it's gone I'm sure. But they sure do look purty.

For the better part of a week I've been dealing with a nasty ear infection and haven't been able to hear in my right ear, if that isn't one of the MOST annoying ailments I'm not sure I know what is. So bad that I for the first time took myself to the 'Urgent Care' doctor. The giant of a man (not cute whatsoever) who looked in my ear actually said ewww, never a good sign when a doctor says eww. 2 weeks of antibiotics twice a day, I have yet to see an improvement but man I sure hope my hearing comes back soon. I think going deaf in one ear could drive a sane man nuts!

Well I do believe I hear my bed calling my name. whew what a day, Wal-mart really takes a lot out of ya huh? Hope your Friday was as exhilarating as mine!  Check ya later!

Christmas Songs

I kinda took advantage of the five day weekend I created for myself, although not fully. I spent most of it being kind of lazy. I tried to find some great Cyber Monday deals but didn't see anything I wanted to spend my money on too much. Snapfish did have a great deal that I took advantage of, up to 300 prints for a penny! I printed most of my pictures from Germany, the Warrior Dash and our Michigan trip that would have cost me $42 and I got it all for $18 and shipped to my front door, man I love the internet!

I wasn't going to put up a tree this year since I don't have a whole lot of space, but I thought again and decided it's just not Christmas without some kind of decoration. I high-jacked my moms "Charlie Brown tree" as it became called one year due to its small stature, but it works just perfectly between my messy desk and cluttered book shelf (please do ignore the clutter, even though I just pointed it out to you)

One thing that has to accompany tree decorating is Christmas music and always classic Christmas. Here are a list of my favorite Christmas songs. Do you have any favorite have-to-hear-or-it's-not-Christmas-yet songs?

* Jingle Bell Rock *
* Winter Wonderland *
* Burl Ives version of Rudolph *
* White Christmas *
* I'll Be Home for Christmas *
* Run Run Rudolph *
* Silver Bells *
* The entire Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Soundtrack *
* Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let it Snow! *
*The Christmas Song *

And without further adieu here is my version of the "Charlie Brown Christmas Tree" with an added bonus appearance of Oliver the adorable Christmas kitten!

Ooooohhhhhh

Ahhhhhhh

How freakin' cute?!

Oh.my.gawd. stop the cuteness.

Hope You Can Button Your Pants Again

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I'm thankful that Thanksgiving only happens once a year... I kid, I kid. We had ham and turkey, potato and stuffing and oh so many pies.

I was sad to hear that Mr. Food had passed away, I always remember watching him on the local TV station during the noon broadcast because oooh, it's so good.

A.Drama sent this picture Wednesday as she was helping gma get ready for the big dinner. We ended up not going the Japanese route for Thanksgiving, we had turkey instead. Don't worry, no adorable kittens were harmed in the making of this photo.

Wednesday night I also went bowling. I don't even remember what the score ended up being or who won. All I know is that you can't have anymore fun than that for $13 in small town hanging with friends.

Then Friday rolled around. More power to the people and brave souls who ventured out late Thursday/Early Friday but I'm not doing that again. That happened one year and then I remembered about 4 hours into the line at Best Buy to check out that I hate people. I could be maybe persuaded to change my mind in the future if there was a big big ticket item, or I think if you have kids there is more fun in getting today. But I'm not standing in line for days for a half off DVD set. No Way.

I tried today to get a jump start on my holiday shopping, at least for my co-worker friends. I got distracted and failed at my attempts, but to be fair, I tried to buy local first and had no luck. BUT you know how while shopping for others you always find something for you instead. Well a few friends had already found this little gem but today I found it for half off, only $15 for
\hours of fun! My very own remote controlled helicopter! The cats do not approve, but gpa sure did! We've already had landing competitions by setting up random landing pads and laughing as the helicopter crashes to the ground. I think dad enjoyed it too!

I give myself major props for getting out of the house on day 3 of my 5 day weekend. I may even venture to the big city to complete my original task, if I can handle being around people lol. But if not I suppose I'll just have to cuddle with an adorable little kitten pal.

Knock On Wood Folks

Buy a lotto ticket or something, because I don't think today could have possibly been any better of a day.

1* It is FRIDAY!
2* Work was actually enjoyable. {Thanks to the HW}
3* My hello I'm here at my desk flag actually served a purpose [I got moved to the corner of the department, you might say its a place where you could be sitting dead at your desk for days and no one would find you for days. But it was mentioned that you cannot tell if I am at my desk from a distance, and believe me anyone who would want to see me is at a distance, so I have a little mailbox type flag at my desk, flag up- I'm here, no flag-no heather.] But someone was looking for me and Page Turner was able to say see that flag, she's there. awesomeness.
4* Had a meet and greet with my new boss, gave me hope for the future
5* Went to second chance- got offered free popcorn because they were getting ready to close
6* Was so happy that I got free popcorn, I had a little pep in my step
7* That pep in my step allowed me to be looking around rather than doing the head down sad feet drag I would have normally been doing.
8* Looking up allowed me to witness the blue moon of the work place- I saw a man get completely blindsided by the mailcart robot. He had his back turned and didn't even see it coming. [Don't stand in the worn path on the carpet when standing talking to people... write that down for future reference]
9* The retelling of #8 to coworker got me cheers of congrats, three high-fives and a hug from Mr. Grinch.
10* November Birchbox!! a full size mascara with a mirror on the side, score!

Not Sew Fast

Sometimes I have to take a moment and be completely amazed by the ingenuity and evolution of human beings. Tonight in my Holiday sewing class as I struggled to, in a semi-coherent pattern, ladder stitch a 4" gap closed by hand, it struck me.... people used to completely sew ALL their close BY HAND! I'm about 50% capable of sewing a straight line with a machine. Just amazing. Any dress I would have made back in the day would have probably ended up looking like the scene out of Sleeping Beauty when the fairies don't use their magic.

Last week was the first week of holiday sewing, we made a rice neck wrap with lavender smells. Kinda hard to tell from the pic but basically it's sectioned off, filled with rice and sprinkled with lavender. Put in the microwave for 1-2 mins and boom! Heated neck wrap.

This week was the highly anticipated Nook cover, it required some hand sewing, for real how did people make entire dresses and beautiful quilts without machines? And this is literally a big rectangle, thank goodness for simple sew projects!

Also I went and saw Skyfall, the new James Bond movie and it was AMAZING! I would go see it again it was that good, plus I heart Daniel Craig as James Bond :)

I've been Cozy, Cold and Busy?

I spent the better part of last weekend curled up in a blanket in sweatpants/sweatshirt (mostly because our furnace hadn't been working) and watched a better part of season 2 of Downton Abbey, if only I could have been a part of a British aristocratic family....But we've got some catching up to do and some random thoughts to get out there...

** A few weeks ago I went to the Found Footage Festival basically it's these two guys that go around to thrift shops and pick up old VHS tapes and people send them in to them too. They cut them together which equals hilarity. Think awkward 80's exercise videos, training videos entitled "don't shake hands with danger" and how to massage your opossum. Hilarity.

** I got my first Birchbox in the mail. If you aren't familiar with Birchbox, it's ok, I wasn't until a friend told me about it. For $10, you get a monthly mailbox surprise full of all kinds of beauty goodies. I like it because I get to try smaller sizes of things without wasting the money on a full size something you won't end up liking. My favorites this month was the Mox lip butter and the Juicy Couture Viva la Juicy La Fleur fragrance, loved! I've only gotten one box so far but I love it.

** Halloween has come and gone already. I carved pumpkins and dressed up like a nosy old lady. It was fantastic!

** Tomorrow I start my Holiday Sewing class! For the next six Monday's I'll be making fabulous holiday gifts!

** I went to Target today and bought things I didn't need. Why does Target do that to you? I haven't sent Christmas cards in years but felt compelled to buy and send them this year.

** Thanks. I just want to take a second to thank everyone who reads my blog and has ever left me a kind comment.You are all so supportive and some of you I've never even met. Your kind words are always appreciated and so thoughtful, thank you!

** I'm fighting the urge to not break out the Christmas music, don't judge I know it's early. I just can't fight off the holiday spirit and everyone knows the best way to spread Christmas cheer
