Olympic Thoughts

Does anyone else feel slightly lazy cheering for the Olympic athletes? I mean here I am sitting in my comfy evening clothes and I'm thinking to myself go faster swimmer swim faster!

Do you think that gyms see an increase of people in during or after the Olympics?

I am slightly annoyed at the lack of spoiler alerts, at least make us click before ya throw the spoiler headline out there.

I tear up almost every time I see the parents reaction.

Seriously how do they judge the synchronized diving, it all looks synchronized to me.

I read that one athlete dropped his medal in the shower and broke it.. oopsie.

Everyone is hatin on Michael Phelps, I don't get it. You go swim a lap let me know how you do.

Some people should keep their tweets to themselves. It's a kick in the pants to get disqualified for being a stupid.

Do you think if I got the Olympic rings tattooed on my arm or back people would just assume that I was once in shape and just let myself go?

At what point in youth does a parent realize the Olympic talent. Maybe my parents just sneezed when I had my moment.

Is McDonald's really the most responsible sponsor of team USA, how about Coca Cola?

I remember my sister and I used to skate around in the kitchen in our socks, I was always Nancy Kerrigan and she had to be Tanya Harding. It may have given her some kind of complex.

Parallel bars seem like it would hurt when you fall on your arms.

Do judges have to complete special training?

I'm still amazed by how much money was probably spent on the opening ceremonies. Everyone was in coustume and movie make up, that's a crap ton of people!

Mackinac Island, MI

A much needed mini-vacation is in progress. We thought about it long and hard, our first thought was to go to Memphis and visit Graceland. But after a little more thought, we figured Tennessee in July sounds hot, we already got hot at home and there would be just so much that we'd want to see in Memphis. So why not go north we thought? Well BINGO! We picked well, the high today was 77, PERFECT day to walk around Mackinac Island. I've always wanted to come and visit the Grand Hotel, I would have loved to stay there but dang it costs a lot of money to rest in luxury.  So we Priceline negotiated us a deal and stayed in Mackinaw City instead and got to take the ferry over to the island. That's what we did all day today, walked around the island and took about a 2 hour horse and carriage tour around the island. It was beautiful!

Our Ride

Skull cave

Arch Rock

Fort Mackinac

The porch of the Grand Hotel, if you aren't a guest you pay $10 to peruse the grounds of the hotel, no worries its mucho cheaper than the $700 it would have cost to stay there. No thanks, I'll take pictures to make it look like I stayed there, memories are free and priceless ;)

on the porch of the Grand, what a view!

We weren't terribly impressed with the interior of the Grand, but I guess our tastes are a little more IKEA than turn of the century Victorian-we-have-too-much-money-so-lets-spend-it-on-ugly-stuff.

Just sitting on the porch at the Grand makes you feel luxurious. But slightly too poor to actually be sitting there. Never fear I saw cut off Harley shirts, so just because you have the money to stay there doesn't mean you have to be classy.

After 6pm on the grounds you must be in dinner attire, the gentlemen must have ties and coats and the ladies mustn't be in slacks. FaNcY!

Our ferry ride

This little gem is for sale on the island for a cool $3,250,000

oh and this could be your view... I think I could live with that.

Tomorrow if it doesn't rain, it's only a 30% chance, our plan is to sit on the beach and soak up some sun!

Pictures Soon!

How Retro

I just hooked up the old VCR just so I could watch these cartoons from 1987. Classic Casper the Ghost, it brought back many memories from when I was little and we would sit and watch this VHS over and over and over and over again. I would have cried a little had it not worked. Both impressive is the fact that I 1-knew where the VHS tape was and 2-knew where the VCR was and hooked it up properly to my flat screen tv that 1987 didn't know could exist. That is all.

Only In a Small Town

Only in a small town do you get excited about something as redneck as a Lawn Mower demolition derby. Which can only mean one thing... it's fair time! There's a first time for everything...

Busily Not Busy

Do you ever feel like you've been really busy only to notice you've been pretty not busy and actually rather lazy? Yeah I'm there.

I took a few days off the Thursday/Friday before the 4th to have some me time. I sat around and did nothing, and lounged in the pool alot. I've done pretty good about keeping my bucket list item of being outdoors as much as possible.. well until the heatwave hit. I've managed to get a little bit of color on my pasty white skin.

I've also had a cute little buddy to keep me company and occupy my time.... everyone meet Oliver! He will be 9 weeks on Wednesday. Find me something that is cuter than a kitten and I will give you a dollar.

I sat down to blog several times in the past two weeks but then I just ended up shutting the computer off. I've been pretty good about not being on the internet so much and it's been kinda nice. Like I said I've been pretty lazy which is kinda what I need.

We've got some fun little things lined up here at North of 10th so stay tuned!
