Happy National Cat Day

Today is National Cat Day. I was unaware there was a National holiday for Cats, but in honor of said holiday. Here are some pictures of my adorable cat. (please note I have 1 cat with many photos, not multiple cats, I am NOT a crazy cat lady...yet)

Here's Oliver!

Postcard Arrival: Bangkok, Thailand

This postcard came from Bangkok, Thailand; 8684 miles in 15 days. I have on my profile that I like motorcycles and Harleys. This person said that he couldn't find a motorcycle postcard so he drew me a picture of him riding his motorbike :) Postcrossing is so much fun! I think gma and gpa are enjoying it just as much as I am!

Meramec Caverns

NiBo had a rare Saturday off, so of course we had to plan an adventure! We decided to go check out Meramec Caverns in Missouri. I've seen the signs a million times (since there are like a million) on my way to St. Louis. As always it was a wonderful sibling adventure road trip.

The most important discovery on this road trip was the fact that Cadbury eggs exist outside of Easter! The Cadbury Screme egg made it's appearance after a gas station pit stop for an Energy drink. They taste just like their Easter counterpart but have a spooky green center instead of the Easter yellow. It amazes me that I did not know these existed.

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. It was a beautiful fall day and the road lined with pretty fall colored trees on the drive towards the entrance were beautiful! It's pretty amazing to think about how this placed looked before people discovered it and added concrete walkways and handrails and what it looked like when Jesse used it as a hideout. I don't imagine the neon sign was up then, kind of defeats the purpose of a hideout I suppose.

The lighting makes everything look so different though it's pretty even without the color lights shining.

The American Flag light was a gift from a past MO governor after he visited.

Our standard, we were here pics.

See! Wasn't it a picturesque Fall day?

Hope you had a lovely fall weekend and got to get out and enjoy the outdoors. Next weekend is a busy one here at North of 10th, Navy at Notre Dame on Saturday, and Wicked in Chicago Sunday! I'm going to be one pooped pup!

My First Postcard Arrived!

My first Postcrossing postcard arrived the other day all the way from Japan! It traveled 6,569 miles in 13 days. The sender lives in Osaka, Japan and she said this is a postcard of the traditional dance.

Screaming Pumpkin 2013

'twas a lovely fall night for a run through the cemetery....

Our third running walking of the Screaming Pumpkin 10k is done and in the books. The gigantic cemetery that this race goes through is a gorgeous cemetery... that sounds weird, but it is, though we only had a short time to actually see it. Night soon fell and we were left hoping not to run into the undead. The trails are only lit by glowsticks lining the pathways and each participant is given a couple of glowstick necklaces to wear. It scares the crap out of you when you approach someone who isn't wearing any because you can barely see them.

Our costumes were a hit this year! I can gauge how good a costume is by how many people talk to you about it, and this year there were many, we even had one person ask for our picture.

Do you remember the show 'Legends of the Hidden Temple' if you don't you probably didn't grow up with 90's Nickelodeon. But it's a Indiana Jones style game show for kids with six teams competing for the grand prize. We chose to be the Green Monkeys. We could hear several people talking about our costumes, they looked familiar and knew it was Nickelodeon but couldn't quite remember the name. Once we told them they were always like "Yeah! That's it! I loved that show!" If it had been warmer we could have had the whole look going with elbow and knee pads and the classic khaki shorts, but we had to bundle up a bit cuz it was a smidge chilly. We successfully managed to make it to the finish and bonus, we weren't last!

The green monkeys survived the Screaming Pumpkin 10k!

We managed to finish with a time of 2:01:40 which is pretty good considering we walked the whole thing. Even though we have blisters and are a bit sore from hiking up the giant hills in the cemetery and sometimes question our sanity half way through; we always come back for this very fun race. This is our third time doing the race in four years and it gets better and better each time. You get a t-shirt, medal, and post race food complete with hot chocolate, and on a night like tonight you definitely need it to warm the bones!

Throw Back Thursday: Halloween is Coming

Tomorrow night I will be freezing my bottom off at the annual Screaming Pumpkin 10k... through a cemetery! Spooooooooky! Here's a throw back of a.drama and I with mom, we were cats, very adorable cats. I think this is one of my all time favorite pictures and I can't even explain why. It just is. Do you have a spooky costume picked out or plans for a haunted house?

Tis The Season.... Wait What?

Please do not adjust your computer screen, that is in fact snow on our back porch. I was just thinking earlier tonight that it's that time of year where it's only 8:30, already dark and I'm ready for bed. Don't get me wrong, Fall is my favorite time of year and I love the crisp cool air and the leaves floating through the breeze, but I am not ready for October snow, it can come in due time, just not yet.

Have a cozy evening.

Happy 25th + 1 day A.Drama

A.Drama appeared in our lives October 19th, 1988, which was a few months early. She was supposed to be born in December, but true to her nickname, had to arrive with a little bit of drama. She spent a month in the hospital but came home normal and healthy, as normal as she is anyway.

A.drama spent her actual birthday (yesterday) with her boyfriend Marvin. They went to the gambling boat for drama's first time there. She lost money, it wasn't pretty. What happened to beginner's luck?

Here's a few pictures from drama's birthdays past...

New Things

Holy moly has it been a busy couple of days, sorry I missed the throw back Thursday, I know how much you all enjoy that. But I'm back and I'll update you on everything that has happened.

I've tried a new ethnicity of food. Indian food! (sorry OL for the food pic, I know how much you hate them) but I had to show you my plate. Everything had some sort of spicy heat to it. Over all it was good. Would I go back? Probably not anytime soon. I'm good for many many months. So I can just go ahead and cross Indian Food off my bucket list.

Clean plate, I survived!

The other new thing that happened is a cut and color, new and improved and now with Bangs! All my throw back Thursday pictures as a wee little one I had bangs so I decided to give Fall's hot look a try this season. So far everyone has said they liked them, like they would tell me if they looked hideous. But I like them... for now anyway lol, they may get annoying. Luckily my hair grows fast if I don't want to keep em.

10 Things: What's a Happenin'

Not a whole lot going on right at the moment but here's 10 things:

* We had a fire drill at work today and this lady couldn't find the time to put her shoes on. This is only a drill, I repeat only a drill. You have time to put your shoes on!!

* Poor gma fell up the stairs and broke her arm. Of course it had to be her right arm. But Sophie the puppy dog came for a visit and is helping to make her feel better. Get well soon Gma!

* One of my postcards made it to their destination! It traveled 4,264 miles in 12 days on it's way to the Netherlands.

* The Walking Dead was back Sunday, I thought it was a little slow until the end.

* Last nights Sons of Anarchy was my favorite of the season so far. It felt very old school SOA, LOVED IT!

* Edward Norton is going to be on SNL this weekend!

* My favorite Pandora station lately has been 50's rock n' roll. Sometimes all this modern era crap gets old. I yearn for simpler times.

* Move over Candy Crush, Dots is my new addicting game.

* I'm a little off the wagon and need to stop stuffing my face with food and get back on track with my eating plan and back in the gym.

* Dad and I's Navy vs. Notre Dame tickets and parking pass arrived! I am so incredibly pumped! 17 days away!

Country Drive Sky

While driving home last night, it was a little bit later than usual. OL and I had joined some friends at our annual Fall Festival dinner at the park. This time of year is by far my favorite, windows down letting the wind blow through your hair and jammin out to the radio. Almost every farm you pass has combines going in the fields. There is just such a unique feeling in the air that only happens in the fall.

I had to take a slight detour last night coming into town as a grain wagon had tipped over and the road was blocked while they were scooping up all the grain that had spilled. Luckily this detour gave me a minute to see the sky filled with the most beautiful colors as the sun slipped away to bed just beneath the horizon. The crescent moon with it's neighboring planet filled the night sky with a soft twinkly glow, and the phone couldn't even capture it all in the picture. These little moments, like taking in an Autumn sunset on a country drive home, are the snapshots of life that I hope I never take for granted.
